23.01.2008

Almeria was chosen to host the 15th Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention from15th to 18th January 2008. Over 200 ministers, delegates and experts came together at this Meeting with the primary objectives to adopt a new Protocol on the Integrated Coastal Zone Management in the Mediterranean, to adopt several other decisions related to MAP components and to adopt the declaration known as the Almeria Declaration. The Declaration established future MAP initiatives on climate change issues as the effects of climate change are already evident in the Mediterranean. At the Meeting, MAP activities carried out in the 2006-2007 biennium were evaluated and the workprogramme to be implemented in 2008-2009 were decided upon. Montenegro officially became a Contracting Party to the Barcelona Convention. See more on http://www.unepmap.org Gallery
