New Mediterranean "State of the Environment and Development" on the way

03.07.2009

A co-ordination meeting for the preparation of the new State of the Environment and Development in the Mediterranean report took place in Villa Valmer (Marseille, France), on July 1 2009. Following the Almeria Contracting Parties conference in 2008, the MAP has been asked to publish every two years and prior to the meeting of the Contracting Parties, a report on environment and sustainable development in the Mediterranean, to meet the request for regular information from the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention. The objectives of the meeting were to revise all chapters, to validate the key messages, and to identify the gaps and proposals for the necessary amendments and adjustments.

The report will be submitted to the next meeting of the Contracting Parties in November 2009 in Marrakech. All the RACs of the MAP are involved in the preparation of this report. PAP/RAC contributes with the chapter on the management of coastal zones. The overall co-ordination of the work is performed by the Blue Plan.
