PAP/RAC was attending the final conference of the ReMAP project in Helsinki as the final event of the MSP Data Week 2025, a major European gathering dedicated to advancing Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) through data and digital innovation. Held from 14 to 16 October 2025 at the Scandic Grand Marina, the event brought together MSP practitioners, policymakers, scientists, and decision-makers from across Europe to strengthen collaboration and enhance data-driven approaches to MSP.
As the culmination of the ReMAP project, the conference placed strong emphasis on capacity building and practical application. Participants engaged in a series of hands-on workshops showcasing the project’s ten analytical tools, designed to support the monitoring, assessment, and improvement of Maritime Spatial Plans. These interactive sessions enabled users to explore concrete use cases, address implementation challenges, and exchange experiences on how digital tools can better inform planning and decision-making processes.
The event also provided a valuable platform for dialogue between planners, scientists, and policymakers, fostering a shared understanding of current needs and future directions for MSP in Europe. Discussions focused on data availability, interoperability, and innovation, highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts among EU Member States and key stakeholders. Networking sessions further strengthened professional connections and encouraged knowledge exchange across institutions and sectors.
Through its tools, technical framework, and collaborative approach, the ReMAP project has contributed to enhancing the capacity of EU Member States to develop more effective, coherent, and data-driven Maritime Spatial Plans. The conference in Helsinki marked an important milestone, reaffirming the shared commitment of the MSP community to innovation, cooperation, and the continuous improvement of maritime governance in Europe.
