Mediterranean prepares for the World Water Forum

24.09.2008

The 5th World Water Forum (WWF) will take place in Istanbul in March 2009. The preparatory activities for the Mediterranean session at this important event have already started. On 19 September 2008 the Mediterranean Water Institute (MWI) of Marseille organised a meeting where the organising committee with the representatives of MWI, PAP/RAC, BP/RAC, and the Moroccan and the Spanish Ministries of environment discussed the preparatory activities. The ‘Water and litoralisation in the Mediterranean’ was selected as the main topic at the Forum’s round table. Also, the side event and the kick-off meeting for the Mediterranean session (Tunis, 14-15 November 2008) were discussed, as well as the preparation of the Mediterranean report to be disseminated at the Forum.

In the afternoon an informative meeting with the World Water Council (WWC) was held in order to exchange information between the Mediterranean partners and the members of the WWC on the WWF in general. The place of the Mediterranean at the WWF was introduced summarising the conclusions of the previous meeting.
